Tigers Alex Avila and Shannon Hogan get an Ice Water Bath after Avila's walkoff single help bury the Yankees playoff hopes a bit. V

Yankees Pitcher Shawn Kelley got two outs in the ninth, then hung a slider to Alex Avila, which he ripped to the wall for a game winning walkoff single. Shannon Hogan got doused with some ice cold water during here interview with the hero.  Fantastic dress, good thing it was not red Gatorade bath...

And incidently, it looks like this will Shannon's last ice water bath with the Tigers - she got a new job in New York with the Icelanders, so maybe I'll see her at the Nassua Mausoleum...

Brian McCann get 2 baths after walkoff homer, Meredith Marakovitz gets one. SS

Brina McCann came on as pinch hitter in the 10th inning of 4-4 game. With 2 outs and 2 on, he whacked a walkoff homer to beat the White Sox 7-4. He got a Gatorade bath from Brett Gardner as soon as he touched home plate. Then during his YES network TV interview, he got an ice water bath from Martin Prado. Meredith Marakovits was getting things set up with the camera man, and never saw the ice water coming until it was too late.  By the way, I love that blue dress and enormous gold watch she is wearing.

Meredith Marakovits avoids 99% of Martin Prado's Gatorade bath

Martin Prado had a walkoff, 2 out single in the bottom of the ninth, as the Yankees beat the White Sox 4-3. He also had a 2 run homer in the 3rd inning. So of course he got a Gatorade shower for his efforts. And then Brett Gardner surprised him with a second shower - ice water this time. Watch the video below closely: Meredith Marakovits sees Gardner coming out of the corner of her eye, and bolts at the last second, avoiding the Gatorade Bath. But the ice water, she did not see that coming at all.

Introducing Washington Nationals reporter Hayley Milon

Ok, so there is absolutely no dousing going on in this post.  I just saw this incredibly beautiful Hayley Milon on the internet and figured I'd make a special post for her.  If she does those sideline interviews with Washington Nationals players, then it is only a matter of time before she meets a Gatorade bath.

I have no idea who this Yankee is.

Julia Morales takes the Ice Bucket Challenge

As you may know, the Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral this month, invented to raise awareness and money for ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Julia Morales is the first sideline reporter I've seen take the challenge.

From Julia's Youtube channel:

The video is here.

And it looks like she challenged 3 other people.

Hanley Ramirez's walkoff home run set off Blue Gatorade showers during interview with Alanna Rizzo

Ok, I know they only beat the Cubs, but it was exciting in 12 innings.  Hanley Ramirez won it with a walkoff 3 run homer to left field off Blake Parker to give the Dodgers a 5-2 win. As usual, Alanna Rizzo ran like heck.

Gregorio Petit's first major league home run deserves an ice water bath, which Julia Morales dodges expertly...

29 year old Astros shortstop Gregorio Petit has so little service time that he’s still considered a rookie despite two previous cameos in the majors and a five-year wait between big league appearances before he returned to the majors last week. So he and his teammates rejoiced a bit more than usual Friday night when Petit drilled his first major-league home run to propel the Astros to a 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays at Minute Maid Park. With the score tied at 1, Petit greeted lefthanded reliever Aaron Loup with a leadoff home run into the Crawford Boxes before an appreciative crowd of 19,576 in the second game of the four-game series.

First teammate George Springer doused him with ice water, then Carlos Corporan dumped bubble gum on his head.
